The Department of Mathematics, Govt. Degree College, Pulwama, Kashmir has the vision to contribute through excellence in technical education and research. 

About Department

The Department of Mathematics was established in 1986, the same year in which College was established, under the headship of Prof. D. N. Pandita. The subject was introduced as an optional subject for Arts stream starting with a humble enrolment which got enhanced gradually over the period of time and took an exponential flight in the year 2001 when Science stream was introduced. Presently near about 200 students (Boys/Girls) are opting for Mathematics as one of their subjects in Arts, Science, Commerce and Computer Applications stream. In addition to class room teaching, the Department has taken a stride to motivate students towards the subject in a non-pedagogical approach. In this regard the Department conducts Mathematical Quiz on a regular basis and also arranges guest lectures by some renowned Mathematician for the staff and students. The department has a good collection of text and reference books housed in the main library of the college. The syllabus which is framed by our affiliating university (University Of Kashmir) meets the standards of University Grants Commission and other universities of the country.
