Department of Geology

The incorporation of this subject (Geology) at undergraduate level was a long pending demand of the people of this district (Pulwama). The reason behind it has been partly in order to have better understanding of the dynamics of planet earth and partly due to its immense scope in providing jobs at both Govt. and private sector viz. Geological Survey of India (GSI), Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), Mineral Exploration, Coal India Limited, Geology and Mining Department Jammu and Kashmir, State Power Development Corporation Jammu and Kashmir, Various National and Multinational Companies like HCC, IRCON, Shell Oil Company, etc.

The subject of Geology has been introduced in this college in 2014 via order No. 100-HE of 2014, dated 26-02-2014. The department of Geology being highly equipped with lab facilities provides three years under graduate course (comprising six semesters). The essential components of Curriculum consist of theory and Lab classes in addition to Field Works at state Level.
